Natural wildlife habitats continue to be threatened by commercial and residential development. We, Jort, Joep, and Joost Schuringa want to do our part in stemming this tide.

"Berg op berg af - Happy Walker challenge" (up the mountain, down the mountain in Dutch) is a one time project for the World Society for the Protection of Animals, in short WSPA, and their support to the Idaho Black Bear Rehabilitation Center.

In March of 2009 we start on the oldest and longest footpath in the world: the Appalachian Trail. The Appalachian Trail, in full the Appalachian National Scenic Trail, is a 2175 mile long distance footpath in the Appalachian Mountains in the east of the United States. The Appalachians are the natural habitat of the American Black Bear. They live free here.

On our website you can find what we do, who our sponsors are, and through our updated stories, photos, and films you can follow our journey.
